There are hundreds of email newsletter systems available. And, you can possibly ask your AI to write one for you.
But, if you are ha Blippa junkie, how to use Blippa for newsletters???
First, I decided to limit the scope and complexity: Even if Blippa is capable of both sending and receiving emails, I decided to use the user email program for sending. (At least in the first version).
The reasons are:
- Allowing all Blippa accounts to send emails from @blippa.com would not be a good solution… (But each account could add their own Office365 or Gmail mailbox).
- How to handle all the bouncing emails? (Now, the sender gets them
)
Also, we do not want to compete with commercial newsletter systems: They can focus on this 100% and therefore they will always have more features. (But then you need to manage a separate, bloated system with very limited ways to integrate with your Blippa system…)
So, how to make this in Blippa?
By making two Blippa Datasources (Subscribers and Newsletter List) the base of the system, it was fairly easy to create subscribe&unsubscribe using forms.
But, in order to get the subscriber email addresses into my email client (Outlook) we had to develop a new function: MAILTO
Then, when using the Mailto function, this pops up in my Outlook program:
Try it yourself by subscribing to our newsletters! Blippa Partner News - by Rexidy Contacts
After testing, I will make a Newsletter account available for download/cloning on the Blippa Marketplace.
(And yes, you can build a full-fledged newsletter system with Blippa, skipping the Outlook program and creating all content inside Blippa. But that is something for consultants to develop customized for their clients.)
