Since we have a lot of boat clubs and guest harbours using the Blippa system, we have been working on a visual tool to manage the mooring slots and the winter boat storage.
To enable, go to Labelsadmin-Settings-Miscellaneous.
When enabled, you will get a new menu.
Start by creating a new map, select the “Insert Map” function and use the Google Map view to zoom into you harbour. Once you are happy, select the “Select” button. This will create a bitmap of the map. You can now add a mooring with the “Add Parking Slot” (will be renamed to something else). To add a second mooring, hold Shift while you click on mooring no 1.
Note that you can set a name for each mooring and also connect them to a Blippa object.
As for objects, there are two ways to go: Either you create objects for each mooring and connect the boat object with the mooring object (separate article), or you can skip the mooring object and just connect to the boat object.
Both methods has its advantages: The use of mooring objects makes it easy to make lists etc. Using just boat objects is faster but lacks the ability to produce good lists.
One cool feature is that the moorings can have different colours depending on the value of a variable (in this example the variable “status”) (Green=avialable, Red=occuoied, etc.). You can also customise the info box to display crucial info.
For clarity, we do not recommend using the Google Maps picture. Instead, use the picture to make a simplified harbour SVG. Add this SVG to the harbour. Now, you can hide the Google Map picture and only use the SVG.
MapMaker will have two modes:
- In Labelsadmin to define the map and all settings.
- In View mode to enable a non-complicated administration of moorings and parking places.
We are adding more functionality to MapMaker daily.
MamMaker is supported by Blippa Professional Services.
